Building PlayJoy

A very small team shipping one free puzzle a day for the whole world. We write the product notes and the occasional post-mortem.

Per-level history, friend comparisons, a proper mobile gesture pass and more archive depth. Here is what is on the list and what is deliberately not.

We keep a public list of what we are working on, partly because it is useful and partly because it stops us from starting things we should not.

This is the current shape of it, including the items we have explicitly decided against.

Per-level history and progress charts

Right now you can see today and a summary. What is missing is the trend: how your level-three Sudoku time has moved over the last month.

This is the single most requested feature and it is the next substantial thing we are building.

A proper mobile gesture pass

Several games were designed for mouse and keyboard and adapted to touch. That shows. Long-press to flag in Minesweeper works, but it should feel better than it does.

We are going through each board and redesigning the gestures rather than translating them.

Deeper archive tools

Replay by game, by difficulty and by your own weakest dimension. The archive is currently a list of dates, which is not how anyone thinks about practice.

This is Pro territory, and it is where most of the subscription value will eventually sit.

What we are not building

No social feed, no chat, no notifications beyond a single daily reminder. Every one of those makes the site stickier in the short term and worse to use in the long term.

We are also not adding a tenth game until the existing nine feel finished, which they do not yet.
