Mathler gives you six attempts to find a hidden equation. Every guess must be a real equation, and each character comes back green, yellow or grey — green for the right character in the right place, yellow for the right character in the wrong place.
It is the rare puzzle where arithmetic and word-game instincts combine, and it is the fastest round on the daily rotation: a good run takes under ninety seconds.
Open with a probe that uses fresh characters
Your first guess should burn through as many distinct digits and operators as possible while still being a valid equation. Something like 48+35=83 is a strong opener because it tests six different characters at once.
Lock the operator early
The operator is the highest-information character in the string. Once you know whether the answer uses +, −, × or ÷, the space of possible equations collapses by an order of magnitude. Spend guess two on testing operators you have not ruled out.
Respect the equals sign
The equals sign is a character too, and it is usually fixed by the total length. A guess that puts = in the wrong position wastes the entire attempt — check the character count shown under the board before you submit.

Frequently asked questions
Does my guess have to be a correct equation?
Yes. 12+30=42 is accepted; 12+30=99 is rejected before it is scored.
How many guesses do I get?
Six on every level. Unused guesses convert directly into bonus points.
Does division have to be exact?
On level three, division answers are always whole numbers, so an equation with a remainder will never be the answer.
